Mission Statement

1) The Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church will be a spirit-filled church. It will be a church that will acknowledge the sovereignty, supremacy and superintendence of The Almighty through the presiding presence of his spirit and the overseer-ship of pastoral leadership.

Our worship will be Christ-centered and prayer, praise and word-oriented. The word of God will remain the central focus of all worship services.

2) The Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church will be a church that is in touch with and in tune with the community in which it is located (Luke 10:30-37). The late Dr. Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. once said, “When a church defines its ministry by its membership and not its neighbors, then that church has lost its focus and ministry.”

3) Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church will be a “Sharing and Caring” fellowship (Koinoneia) will be our lifestyle. Our love for God will be expressed most effectively through our love for each other.

4) Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church will be a learning church. Ignorance will have no place in the church. Jesus told us to love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our minds and with all our souls. Christian Education will be emphasized (Matthew 28: 19-20).

5) Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church will be a praying church. Nothing is to be done in this church without prayer. No meetings, no rehearsals, or any other activities are to take place without prayer. Moreover all decisions are to be prayed over to discern God’s will.

6) Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church will be a tithing church. We believe that God’s method of financing the Kingdom is through the tithe. We shall strive to a 100% tithing church and to give a tithe of our total income to Ministry and Missions.

7) Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church will be a church that strives for excellence (no half-stepping) because we serve and worship a God who gave us the best that heaven had to offer. While we don’t intend to compete with others, we will definitely strive to “Press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14). And so we shall strive for excellence in Preaching, Teaching, Music, Outreach and all areas of Ministry.
