Shepherd’s Care Ministry

The Shepherd’s Care Ministry is the vehicle by which we provide a fellowship of mutual support so that the body of Christ can be cared for, the community can be influenced, and society can be impacted through the work of the ministry.

Mission Statement

To connect people relationally for the purpose of growing in Christlikeness, caring for one another, and contributing to the Church in order to glorify God and make disciples. (Acts 2:46-47).

Purpose

  • Embrace – provide ongoing care to every member of Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church (Hebrews 10: 24-25).
  • Encourage members to grow into the fullness for which they are called (Phil. 1: 6)
  • Pray joyfully because of our partnership in the gospel (Phil 1: 3-5)
  • Serve others faithfully, administering God’s grace in various forms (1 Peter 1: 10)

Theology

  • The Chief Shepherd calls for us to, “Take care of my sheep,” John 21:16. Variations of this command are found in Acts 20:28 and I Peter 5:1-4. Moses provides the model in Exodus 18.
  • The Holy Spirit distributes pastoral gifts to individual Christians as He determines. “We have different gifts…If a man’s gift is encouraging, let him encourage…if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully,” Romans 12:6-8. This theme is continued throughout I Corinthians 12. See also I Peter 4:10.
  • “Pastors and teachers are to equip God’s people for the work of ministry.” See also II Timothy 2:2.
